Run your retrospective on a shared board
A sprint retrospective works when everyone writes, the similar notes find each other, and the meeting ends with actions somebody owns. The Retrospective template gives you the board for that, and the AI does the sorting.
The Retrospective template is on every plan, the free one included.
How to run it
- 1In Kaavit, choose New board and pick it under Start from, or use Insert template on the toolbar of a board you already have.
- 2Share the board with the team, or send a link that lets people comment. Everyone sees each other's cursors and notes as they are written.
- 3Give people a few minutes to add one sticky per thought to Stop, Continue and Improve.
- 4Select a column's notes and ask the AI to group the similar ones. It arranges them into themes inside the frame, and one click takes it back.
- 5Vote on the themes worth talking about — the counts stay hidden until the vote ends — talk through the top ones, then write who does what in the Actions checklist before anyone leaves.
Keep the loudest voice from setting the agenda
On the Team plan, a facilitator can start a timed round: everyone writes privately as drafts only they can see, and the drafts are revealed together when the time is up — so the first idea posted does not anchor everyone else's.
Or ask the AI
A real result, not a mock-up: what the AI planned for this prompt, laid out by Kaavit as it would be on your board.
The prompt: Set up a sprint retrospective board with columns Went well, To improve and Actions, and add a few example notes to each.
Questions
Do people need an account to join a retro?
Members of your organisation and invited guests sign in. Anyone else can follow a share link and view or edit without an account; on the Free plan a link that lets people edit lasts up to 7 days. Commenting and voting need an account.
Can we use our own retro format?
Yes. Rename the frames, add or remove columns, or ask the AI for the format you run — Start, Stop, Continue, 4Ls, Mad, Sad, Glad — and it sets the board up for you.
What happens to the board after the retro?
It stays in your organisation's board list, with its comments and version history, so next sprint can start by reading last sprint's actions.
