Kaavit vs FigJam: a FigJam alternative without Figma

FigJam is the whiteboard inside Figma: it shares Figma's plans, seats and files, and sits beside the design tool many product teams already use. Kaavit is an online whiteboard on its own: a shared board, AI that turns a prompt into a diagram, and sharing that is generous on the free plan.

If you are looking for a FigJam alternative, here is how the two compare, fact by fact, with a link to where each fact about FigJam comes from.

Where Kaavit is different

A whiteboard with no design tool around it. FigJam comes as part of Figma, with Figma's plans, seats and files. Kaavit is a whiteboard and nothing else, so there is one paid plan to understand and nothing in it you will not use.

Sharing on the free plan. Kaavit's Free plan has guests invited by email and links people can view or edit through with no account; a link that lets people edit lasts up to 7 days. FigJam's way of letting in people without an account, the open session, is on paid plans and lasts 24 hours at a time.

AI that you can take back. Everything Kaavit's AI draws is ordinary sticky notes, shapes and connectors, laid out by Kaavit rather than placed by the model, and a whole generation reverts in one step — only where nobody has changed it since.

When FigJam is the better choice

If your team designs in Figma, FigJam is the better choice: its boards live beside the design files, with the same people and the same seats, and a Collab seat costs less than Kaavit's Team plan.

FigJam's AI also makes Gantt charts and timelines.

Moving from FigJam

Kaavit cannot open FigJam files. Most teams start new work in Kaavit and leave finished boards where they are; for a board you want to bring across, paste its text into the AI prompt and ask for it as a board.

Questions

Is Kaavit cheaper than FigJam?

No, not seat for seat. Kaavit's Team plan is €8 per member a month, billed monthly, plus VAT. A FigJam Collab seat on Figma's Professional plan is shown as €5 a month billed monthly, or €3 billed annually, as viewed from Finland on the date below. Check both pricing pages for your country and taxes.

Can people join a Kaavit board without an account?

Yes. Anyone with a share link can view or edit without one, on every plan; on the Free plan a link that lets people edit lasts up to 7 days. Commenting, voting and using the AI need an account.

Does Kaavit work with Figma?

No. Kaavit has no integration with Figma. A board, or a selection, exports as a PNG image you can place in a Figma file.
