Test a product idea on a lean canvas
A new idea is a pile of guesses. The lean canvas writes them all down on one page, so the team can see which guess everything rests on and test that one first. The template draws the nine blocks, ready to fill in one sitting.
The Lean canvas template is on every plan, the free one included.
How to use it
- 1In Kaavit, choose New board and pick it under Start from, or use Insert template on the toolbar of a board you already have.
- 2Fill it in one sitting, starting with the problem and who has it. Rough is fine: it is a list of guesses.
- 3Mark the riskiest guesses — a sticky in a different colour, or a comment on it.
- 4Select the canvas and ask the AI which guess to test first, and how you would know it held.
- 5Test it, then come back and change the canvas. Version history keeps what it said before.
Questions
Lean canvas or business model canvas?
The lean canvas is for an idea that has not been proven yet; the business model canvas describes a business that works and how. Both are templates here, laid out alike, so moving from one to the other is a matter of renaming a few blocks.
Can people outside the team see it?
Yes: send a view-only link, or one that lets them comment, and revoke it whenever you like.
