Fill in a business model canvas together, on one page

The business model canvas puts a whole business on one page, so a team can see how a change in one block reaches the others. The template draws the nine blocks for you, so the session is spent on the business rather than the grid.

The Business model canvas template is on every plan, the free one included.

The Business model canvas template: how the business works on the left, who it serves on the right, the value in the middle, and the money along the bottom.

How to use it

  1. 1In Kaavit, choose New board and pick it under Start from, or use Insert template on the toolbar of a board you already have.
  2. 2Start on the right and in the middle: who it is for, and what it does for them that they would miss.
  3. 3Work left through channels and relationships, then the activities, resources and partners it takes to deliver.
  4. 4Finish with the money: what costs the most, and what customers pay for.
  5. 5Select the canvas and ask the AI which blocks are thinnest, or what one block implies for the others.

Compare the options side by side

Duplicate the board for each version of the business you are weighing, and link them from one hub board so the team can open each in turn and come back.

Questions

What is the difference from the lean canvas?

The lean canvas uses the same layout for a product nobody has bought yet: the problem, the solution and the numbers that will show it works, instead of partners, activities and resources. Both are templates here.

Can we change the blocks?

Yes. Each block is a frame: rename it, recolour it, resize it, or add one.
