A kanban board your whole team can see and move
Sometimes a task tracker is too much. The Kanban template is three columns on a board everyone can see: add the work as stickies and drag them across as it moves.
The Kanban template is on every plan, the free one included.
How to use it
- 1In Kaavit, choose New board and pick it under Start from, or use Insert template on the toolbar of a board you already have.
- 2Add each piece of work as a sticky in To do. Colour them by person, team or type of work.
- 3Drag a sticky into Doing when somebody starts it, and into Done when it is finished. A sticky dropped into a frame belongs to it.
- 4Pin a comment to a sticky to ask a question about that piece of work, where everyone looking at the board will see it.
When a board is the right tool
A whiteboard kanban is at its best for short-lived work — a launch week, an event, a hiring round — and next to the thinking that produced the work, on the same board. For long-running projects with due dates, assignees and reports, a dedicated tracker is the better fit, and Kaavit does not pretend otherwise.
Questions
Can I add more columns?
Yes. The columns are frames: copy one, rename it — Review, Blocked, Waiting — and drag it into place.
Does Kaavit have due dates or assignees?
No. Kaavit is a whiteboard, not a task tracker: a sticky is a note, and ownership is written on it or in a comment.
